Русская пословица. Означает — использовать двойные стандарты, мерить разной меркой, оценивать чужие поступки иначе чем свои несмотря на их объективную одинаковость.

Эта пословица возникла на основе одной из заповедей Иисуса Христа, приведенных в евангелистических текстах: «Что ты смотришь на сучок в глазе брата твоего, а бревна в твоем глазе не чувствуешь.. .Лицемер! вынь прежде бревно из твоего глаза, и тогда увидишь, как вынуть сучок из глаза брата твоего» — w:Евангелие от Матфея.
