Reporter: So how does it feel to finally become an Olympic gold-medalist?
Figure Skater: Oh it feels wonderful that all my hard work and long days at practice has finally paid off, and I was able to come to this competition and skate my program, and the judges have found it to be good enough and worthy of the 1st place.
Reporter: Coming into this competition, what were the challenges and fears?
Figure Skater: Well, there were a few. As you know, I went through an ankle injury in the qualifiers, and this program is very fast-paced and physically challenging... And this year, we had a few strong skaters, so there was very little room for error and results could go either way.
Reporter: Off the ring, you and XXX are close friends, how do you feel about you taking the gold and him -- the silver?
Figure Skater: Well, we all came here and did our best and were hoping for the best. And as I said before, the competition was very strong, and as you can see from the marks, all 5 of us could have taken home the gold. Today, I was lucky, and as excited as I am about winning today, I would have been extremely happy for XXX if it was him up here.
