Mr Watson was about to close his shop when a man in an excellent suit came in and asked to show him a pair of expensive shoes. that man somewhere, and suddenly he remembered that he saw his face on television.( И все-таки хочется сюда PP. Может, тогда he remembered it was on television, чтобы не усугублять) It was a wanted criminal.
The character/man tried on several pairs of shoes and bought the one (which) Mr Watson especially recommended him.
"These shoes`re slightly small/tight for me," the customer complained, but Mr Watson assured him that they would stretch very soon.
The next day just as the shopkeeper expected, that man entered the shop limping noticeably. He was immediately surrounded by police(men). Mr Watson had intentionally sold a pair one size smaller to the criminal (sell smth to smb) because he knew that the customer would give it back/come to return it the following day.
The shopkeeper thought he had already seen...
...bought the one Mr Watson especially recommended him
...he knew the customer would give it back
he remembered that he had seen his face
The character...
The man ?
sold to the criminal ...
that he had seen his face on television - до того
recommended to him - не его, а ему
as the shopkeeper had expected - ожидал до момента прихода
Mr Watson intentionally sold -
sold the criminal a pair of one-size-smaller shoes - описательное определение
would give them back the next day - не пару вернул, а туфли
