Ex. 7. Прочтите вслух следующие существительные, запишите форму их множественного числа:
carpetS, glassES, photoS (исключение) , boxES, ladIES, wiVES, valleyS, thieVES, mEn, womEn, childREN, fEEt, tEEth, liVES, handkerchiefS (исключение) , tomatoES, scarfS (scarVES - имеет две нормы, тоже своего рода исключение) , sheep( и в единственном, и во множ. числе имеет одну и ту же форму) , deer ( тоже самое, не изменяется, во множ. числе имеет такую же форму) , information( не имеет формы множественного чила ВООБЩЕ никогда. Даже если у вас предложение - ЕГО СВЕДЕНИЯ очень надёжные, то переводим только единственным числом - His INFORMATION IS very reliable), fish (Если предложение - Он поймал 4 рыбы, то форма не меняется, так же как "овца" или "олень" - He cought 4 FISH. Форма множественного числа существует, но она употребляется ТОЛЬКО когда надо подчеркнуть РАЗНЫЕ ВИДЫ рыб. ) coatS.
Ex. 10. Употребите прилагательные и наречия, данные в скобках, в нужной степени сравнения:
1. My brother is much YOUNGER… than myself (Вообще-то, употребление myself здесь абсолютно неверно. Даже если так написано в учебнике, то это явная ошибка!!! 1 Может быть либо ME, либо тогда уже личное местоимение с глаголом - I AM.
2. The opera theatre is one of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL buildings in the city
3. The sound grew FAINTER and FAINTER.
4. The party was not so GAY as I had expected .
5. I have no one NEARER than you . (Здесь я бы вообще поставила другое прилагательное - closer
6. What is the LATEST news?
7. Yesterday I came home LATER than usual.
8. Ann sings far BETTER than Nina.
9. I like this picture BEST of all.
